Layla Ceramic Effect Flirty Fucsia

Salve a tutte!

Hi ladies!
Today I have another Layla polish for you. Flirty Fucsia, or #09, belongs to Ceramic Effect collection.
I really like Ceramic Effect polishes, I have 7 or 8 shades in my stash and I love every single one!
Flirty Fucsia is, obviously, a bright fuchsia with a creme finish. It's very glossy even without top coat and has an excellent pigmentation: one coat and you're ready to go!
A small note on application: I am not a fan of its brush, it's too big for me: yes, I have long nails but also a small nail bed, so I prefer smaller brushes. For example, I don't like at all the most famous brush in the world, that's OPI's one.
Neverthless, application is not difficult. Formula is a bit thick, drying time is really fast and longevity is good.
I think that this shade is suitable also for those ladies who prefer "traditional" colors: it's fanciful but not brassy or loud.
I really recommend it and, in the next few days, I will show you a nail art with Flirty Fucsia used as a base color!

Mavala Lamé Gold

Buonasera a tutte!

Hi ladies!
Today I'm going to show you a nail polish that I really, really, REALLY hate. It's a product from Mavala and it's called Lamé Gold.

I would never have bought it but it was in the italian Glossy Box of december. When I saw this color in the spoilers (I received my Glossy Box later than "the crowd"), I said a little prayer: "Please, not the version with the gold polish, please, please...". Of course, I received THAT version of the Glossy Box.
I have a strange relationship with Mavala: I think that their nail treatments are gorgeous and worth every penny (I stopped biting my nails thanks to Mavala Stop) but I don't appreciate that much their nail polishes. They are quite expensive, at least here in Italy (5.90€ for 5ml), and before Lamé Gold I had only one Mavala in my stash, and I don't like its formula. At all.

But it seems that I'm the only one who doesn't like Mavala (I read a lot of enthusiastic reviews) so maybe I've been only unlucky.
Well, back to Lamé Gold. I really can't understand why the Glossy Box team chose this shade for their boxes: it's really pale and clearly bad for a lot of complexion. I have a pale skin with a pink undertone, so this color looks really horrible on me.
I think this shade is really dull and I won't describe it as a "gold", but as a beige with a touch of gold and pink reflects. It has a pearl finish, so brushstrokes are visible (not too much in the pics, but I can assure you that they are clearly visible in real life). It takes two thick coats (or three thin coats) to obtain a good opacity and longevity is medium-good.
I was disappointed also because drying time is quite long (can you see sheet marks on my pinkie?).
I really can't recommend it... And I think I will wait a lot before considering the purchase of another Mavala polish!
That's all I have for you today, I'll be back soon with a more interesting product, I promise!

Layla Graffiti Viola Manganese

Hi ladies!
Today I'm going to show you a crackle polish by the italian brand Layla. I like this particular finish, even if I'm a bit tired of all these crackle collections: hey, it's no longer an innovation! Please stop!!!
(I'm virtually talking with another italian brand, Kiko, which has just released a crackle collection)
But sometimes it is fun to play with my crackle polishes (I have four shades in my stash) and with color combinations!
I am crazy for purple-green combo, so I chose to apply Layla Graffiti Viola Manganese (Manganese Purple) over Orly Here Comes Trouble, which looks great with this particular layering thanks to its brightness.
If you don't apply a top coat, Viola Manganese dries semi matte (I'd say with a velvety look). I prefer a glossy effect, so I always apply a top coat over it.
Unfortunately all the crackle polishes that I've tried suffer of Shrinkage Syndrome. I suppose it depends on the intrinsic nature of this kind of polish which, as we know, "wrinkles" after application. You will notice a major shrinkage if you use a fast drying top coat over them. I can't even imagine what happens with Seche Vite, which is one of the best top coat ever, but which suffers a lot of Shrinkage Syndrome even with "usual" polishes.
As you probably know, with a thin coat of crackle polish you will obtain a "fine crackle" effect; viceversa, with a thick coat the crackle effect will be deeper.
That's all I have for you today, thank you for reading and commenting!

My MUA products: eyeshadows and mascara

Buonasera ragazze!

Hi ladies!
Last month I promised a review of my MUA products. Here it is!
I bought these cosmetics last may, when I visited London: I have read several positive reviews about MUA but there was no on line store at that time, so I took advantage of this travel and I went to Superdrug (here it is their new on line shop).
Unfortunately, MUA stands were almost empty, but I picked two eyeshadows and a mascara (I definitely wanted more!!!).

The colored mascara is in a beautiful aqua green, with a classic brush. It's very pigmented and it separates and colours the lashes very well. It doesn't give volume but then, it's not sold as a volumising mascara. As a final note, it doesn't flake or smudge.
I really like this one, I wanted a colored mascara so bad but I didn't want to pay a lot of money for it because I use it quite rarely. This is the perfect product for me!

#06 pearl in the shade

About the eyeshadows: they don't have a name, only a number.
I picked #06 and #11 (both have a pearl finish).
#06 is an amazing and bright aqua green; it's very pigmented, it blends well and has a good longevity too.

#11 in the shade
#11 in indirect sunlight

#11 is an incredible violet with blue reflects. It has an unbelievable pigmentation, a good longevity and it blends well.
I am really impressed by the quality of this brand. Essential packaging, gorgeous products, little prices (I paid £1 per item!) and nice range of products. I'm sure I will buy more items in the next future.
If you want, tell me your experience with MUA in the comments - in particular, if you have tried their nail polishes, of course!

Models Own Golden Green

If you're a duochrome fan, you can't miss the Beetlejuice collection by Models Own.
Today I'm going to show you Golden Green. At the beginning it seemed to be a dupe of Chanel Péridot, but when the first swatches were published, everyone saw that, in reality, green and not gold is the predominant color of this polish.
Infact, Golden Green is a metallic green with strong gold reflects.
Formula and pigmentation are good (two coats to obtain the perfect opacity) and longevity is exceptional. According to my well-informed polished friends, this incredible longevity is a common characteristic of all polishes from Beetlejuice collection.
Since it stains a bit, I recommend two coats of base before application.
I really love it and I can't wait to show you also Pinky Brown and Emerald Black, that are the other two polishes from Beetlejuice that I actually own.
An add value of this collection: its name. Beetlejuice is one of my most favourite movie ever!

Color Club Foil Me Once

2011 was a great year for Color Club: they released a lot of gorgeous collections! Except for Backstage Pass (IMO, of course): yes, it is amazing if you watch the polishes in their bottles, but I feel bad if I only think to apply and remove that kind of glitters!!!
My fav collections are Foiled and Holiday Splendor, and thanks to my lovely boyfriend I have several polishes from them (here you can see a part of his polished Xmas gift). Today I'm going to show you Foil Me Once from (obviously) Foiled Collection.
Foil Me Once is a gorgeous pink-lilac which is very pigmented, it can be a one coater but I prefer to do two, thin coats. Application is easy (I love Color Club brush!), it has a great longevity and it dries super fast. Moreover, removal is really easy, which is really good if you're a glitter junkie like me: I used a lot of glitter polishes in the last weeks and I was tired to spend a good amount of time and acetone for removal.
As you probably know, this kind of finish won't hide your nail imperfections, so if your nails aren't perfectly smooth you'd probably need a thick base. Personally, I prefer Nfu Oh Aqua Base (even if it wasn't "born" as a corrective base I think it's perfect for this purpose).
That's all I have for you today, thank you for reading and commenting!

Kiko Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadows in #11 and #17

Buonasera a tutte e ben ritrovate!

Hi ladies!
Here I am with a make up post, dedicated to the gorgeous Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadows by Kiko. Since they are on sale for only 3€, I decided to extend my collection with three new shades (click here if you want to see swatches and reviews of the other shades that I own). Unfortunately the awful weather of the last week didn't allow me to swatch properly the very last eyeshadow, so for the moment I'm going to show you #11 Ottanio (Teal) and #17 Blu notte (Night blue).

#11 Teal is, obviously, a gorgeous and bright blue-green. As the other stick eyeshadows, it's super pigmented and it blends well, but don't wait too long after application or the product will "fix" on your lid and blending will be more difficult. Longevity is high and it lasts a lot of hours without creasing for many hours, if you use a primer underneath it won't crease at all, even after 12 hours!
#17 Night blue is a very dark blue-violet with multicolor shimmer (with a predominance of bronze shimmer). Similarly to #11, it blends well, it's super pigmented and has an incredible longevity too.

#11 and #17: in the shade
#11 and #17: direct sunlight
Detail of #17: the shimmer (direct sunlight)

They are also easy to remove, you won't need waterproof products. Personally I use a standard cleansing cream (BTW, 9 to 5 by Lush).
What else? Love them, love them, love them!

Orly Here Comes Trouble

Buonasera a tutte!

Hi ladies!
Thanks God it's Friday! Today I'm going to introduce a new (to my blog, of course!) brand, Orly.

I think that 2010 has been the best year ever for Orly (Cosmic, Viva! and Plastix collections), but they released beautiful collections also in 2011. My favourite one is Pin Up, with Bubbly Bombshell (I don't own this one but I think I could kill for it!!!) and Here Comes Trouble.
Here Comes Trouble is an amazing kelly green with a sheer lime green base and a lot of super bright glitters with two different shapes: round microglitters and hexagonal and bigger glitters.
Application is wonderful (I love their rubberized cap) and it needs three normal coats to obtain the result of my pics.
Longevity is good and drying time fast.
As you know, I am a fanatic of glitters and greens, and as you can imagine I'm crazy in love with this polish!

Ciao a tutte!

Hi ladies!
Wow, I can't believe this is my 100th post!
Special post = special polish. I really can't believe that I haven't posted a nail polish by Nubar, Orly or Color Club yet. I love, love and love these brands (expecially Orly, even if I appreciated a lot Color Club collections of 2011). So, for this post I chose Nubar but in the next few days I'll introduce an Orly and a Color Club polish.

Well: Nubar Night Sparkle, from Spring Collection 2010. It has a deep blue base with super bright blue glitters. It has an amazing pigmentation (two thin coats and you're ready to go), it dries fast and has a good longevity (4 days).
If you want a semi-matte effect, don't use a top coat and it will look beautiful. But I prefer the version with top coat, also because it has chunky glitters and I prefer the "smooth" effect. For this reason, my tip is: use a thick top coat (fast drying or not, this is not important).

Nubar has not an italian distributor so I buy their products on line: I ordered from Beauty Bay or Nubar Nailz. I know that also Feelunique sells Nubar polishes but I have never bought anything from that website so I can't personally recommend it. I don't think I have to recommend stores to US readers, I suppose they know better than me where to buy!!!!
That's all I have for you today, thank you for reading and have a nice evening!

Essence Circus Circus Cream Eyeshadows

Hi ladies!
This will be my last review of the products from Circus Circus TE.
Everyone loves Essence Stay All Day cream eyeshadows from the permanent line: they are a sort of cheap version of MAC Paint Pots and have an excellent quality for a little price.
From Circus Circus I chose It's Magic and My Sparkling Acrobat, and I have to say their quality is fabulous too!

It's Magic (L) and My Sparkling Acrobato (R)

It's Magic is a gorgeous, bright gold with a great pigmentation. My Sparkling Acrobat is a dark grey with gold shimmer. They blend very well but don't wait too much before blending them or they will fix on your lid.
They have an incredible longevity, I used them without a primer underneath and they crease only after a considerable amount of time (8-9 hours).

My Sparkling Acrobat (L) and It's Magic (R), in the shade

My Sparkling Acrobat, direct (and pale) sunlight

It's Magic, in direct (and pale) sunlight

I used a lot It' Magic during Xmas holidays: I applied it on the entire eye (a major quantity on the lid) and then I applied a thick line of black eyeliner, mascara and ready to go!But, of course, they can be used also in combination with powder eyeshadows of pigments.
I'm really in love with these cream eyeshadows, they have a great value for money (price in Italy is 3.29€ for 5.5 grams of products).
I think that Circus Circus is the best Essence collection ever, at least in my experience and considering the products that I bought!

What about you? DId you buy anything from this TE?

A England Upcoming Collection and Anniversary Promo

Big news from A England!
Only few days before the release of the new collection The Legend! Moreover, there's an incredible promo: all polishes from The Mythicals collection are 30% off.

I love A England for many reasons. I don't want to repeat them because I wrote a lot in my posts about Iseult, Tristam and Avalon. A few words about The Legend: first of all, our waiting won't be long - Adina has announced on A England Facebook page that she should receive it at the end of next week. Moreover, thanks to Eugenia's post on her blog Ommorphia Beauty Bar, we can have a preview of all new colors, their names and descriptions: seven incredible holo and shimmering shades! What a rare and amazing finish! I really love every single shade but I think I could die for that green and that teal!!!

You know, I love chattering, so I'd like to add a personal-artistic note. I have always been interested in the history of England, expecially for that part connected to the Tudors' period. This new A England collection gives me the chance to rediscover a particular historic episode, that of St. George, patron saint of England.
Until some years ago I knew only a little about the legend of St. George and the dragon. Thanks to my boss, who has a huge interest and knowledges of this legend, I started to do some researches and to appreciate the many artistic forms and oeuvres inspired to this episode.
I've always preferred paintings to sculptures and, maybe for patrioctical reasons, my fav paintings of St. George are by Raffaello.
Raffaello did two versions of St. George and the Dragon, even if someone talks about a third (and lost) painting: the first one is kept at Louvre, the second one at the National Gallery of Art at Washington. I prefer the last, because (IMO, of course!) the princess has a more important role, she's not a minor character and she doesn't look like a terrified wench.

Essence Cotton Candy from Circus TE

Buonasera a tutte!

In the shade
Direct sunlight

Hi ladies!
Finally, here I am again. I have a lumbar contracture (yes, again!) and these lasts days have been awful. I am sick of being sick. Well, it's better if I introduce the polish of the day, Essence Cotton Candy from Circus TE.
I really like this polish, the creme shade has an amazing pigmentation!
Like its "friend" Applause, Applause, it's a duo polish with a creme and a glitter.
Looking at the bottle, the creme shade seems a strong pink. On the nails, the color is darker, with a touch of purple. It reminds me a bit Essence Mr. Big, even if it's lighter.
The glitter has the usual clear base with fuchsia microglitters. I really like it, even more than the red glitters of Applause, Applause: IMO, you can create a subtle but super nice manicure even using it on all nails - and not only for an accent manicure as you can see in my pics.
In my pics I used one coat of the creme polish and two coats of glitter polish; drying time is super fast and longevity good.
I'm sorry that I couldn't find the other two shades of these collections, because I was really impressed by the quality of the two polishes I own. And price, of course, is low!

My New Year Party look

Buonasera ragazze!

Hi ladies!
I'm a bit late but here it is my New Year Party make up! I know, there's a lot of beauty bloggers who create amazing looks. I'm not among them (sigh). I think I am only a good amateur. Moreover, my photocamera is hateful and not collaborative. It seems it flattens my looks and it highlights nonexistent faults. Sgrunt. In these pics, for example, there's no trace of the glitter eyeliner I used near the eyelash line. Anyway, hope you like it!
